Venu Dhupa
Director of Creative Development

Venu Dhupa leads our development in literature, publishing and language, festivals touring, dance, theatre, visual arts, broadcasting partnerships, international, and cultural export.

Venu Dhupa is a cultural activist, working in the field of cultural policy and development. Venu's recent achievements have included hosting the European Cultural Parliament at Liverpool Capital of Culture and shaping the creative programme for the 2010 Commonwealth Day celebrations in London alongside kick starting a new publishing company.

Previous posts have included Director Arts at the British Council (worldwide) where she led and completed the first international consultation/review in 25 years on the Council's global arts strategy; Director of Creative Innovation at the Southbank Centre; Fellowship Director at NESTA; Chief Executive at the Nottingham Playhouse and Producer (Mobile Touring) at the Royal National Theatre. She has been awarded the prestigious National Asian Woman of Achievement Award for her contribution to the Arts and Culture. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce.


Iain Munro
Director of Creative Development

Iain Munro

 

Iain Munro leads our development in participation, equalities, audience and organisational change and development, education, learning and young people and special projects such as the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games and the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Iain grew up in Fife where early musical encounters inspired him to study singing and music in Glasgow, followed by studies in Economics and Surveying in Edinburgh. His personal interest in the arts increasingly led to work as a specialist on cultural developments in the UK and abroad before joining the Scottish Arts Council and progressing to Co-Director of Arts with corporate responsibility for Lottery matters, creative industries, education, equalities, audience and organisational development, London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.


Caroline Parkinson
Director of Creative Development

Carolyn Parkinson

 

Caroline Parkinson leads our development in film, TV, creative industries, digital media, music, IP and skills.

Caroline’s previous role was as Director (Scotland & Northern Ireland) for Creative & Cultural Skills. Immediately prior to joining CC Skills, she ran her own management consultancy and worked freelance as a photographer. She was manager of the independent film and television producers' organisation, PACT Scotland & NI between 1994 and 1997, and prior to that was a Theatre-in-Education producer. She was a Scottish Squad Rhythmic Gymnast and coach, as a singer and pianist she has performed in a number of bands, and she is a published and exhibited photographer.

Kenneth Fowler
Director of Communications & External Relations

Kenneth Fowler

 

Kenneth leads on all aspects of Creative Scotland’s communications and engagement activity.

He was previously Head of Communications and Information at Scottish Natural Heritage where he led on branding, campaigns, publishing, media, PR, internal communications and corporate affairs as well as SNH’s engagement with the media and Government. Prior to this Kenneth spent 7 years in the creative industries as a Director of Edinburgh based advertising and communications agency, 1576, working with clients such as Visit Scotland, Scottish Government, National Museums and a host of others from the private sector. He has also worked in strategy and communications with major Scottish companies such as Glenmorangie and Standard Life.

He has been a Board Member of Eden Court Theatre in Inverness and has lectured on communications at universities and schools in Edinburgh and in the Highlands.

Kenneth was born in Edinburgh and has lived in the Scottish Borders and the Highlands.
